SONOFF RF BRIDGE + Pilight or How to extend the supported protocols by our little bridge

With version V0.9 of OpenMQTTGateway  @steadramon  &  @puuu  (the ESP library creator) enabled by their work to integrate Pilight library on OMG. Permiting to increase significantly the list of RF protocols of OMG . But now that we have this interesting possibility and with the goal of OMG of beiing multi boards compatible, why not trying to put Pilight on a Sonoff RF Bridge . So as to do this test I ordered a new one so as to be on the same hardware as most of the users (my other RF Bridge is a demonstration old one) So as to decode RF signals the Sonoff RF Bridge has a special dedicated chip (EFM8BB1)  that communicate with the esp8285 with a serial connection. If we want to increase the number of RF protocols compatibles on the device without modifying the hardware, the only software based solution is to hack the  EFM8BB1. Add of LORA technology to OpenMQTTGateway

The V0.9.1 release of  OpenMQTTGateway  will introduce the compatibility with LORA RF technology based on the work of  Sandeep MISTRY . LORA is a technology used on Low Power Wide Area Network, the 3 first words of this definition are very interesting. Indeed in home automation we are often faced against the challenge of range and working with battery powered device. LORA solves both problems by its low power consumption and its "kms" range. The first tests on OMG  has been done with the TTGO LORA boards based on ESP32. They are delivered with an antenna and an embedded display. Quite usefull for the first tests. OpenMQTTGateway support

After a few years of contributing to OpenMQTTGateway project I see that the scope of the project is exceeding my own home usage, more and more use cases are found by the users. Request of incorporating, gateways, devices, tests are very frequents but I miss devices or components to test with. So as to continue to extend the OMG functionnalities I've decided to build a list of compatible components and compatible devices with affiliated links .  The principle is the following, if you bought something coming from these links there will be a commission for me. Connected terrarium with arilux module

A community space for OpenMQTTgateway discussions

With the increase of OpenMQTTgateway users the current community ecosystem composed of github + a gitter chat is showing its limits, especially for the chat which doesn't enable to structure discussions around a subject.  So as to have more capitalisation on the questions, answers and informations coming from the community I'm introducing a forum based on discourse .  Giving the opportunity to build together a knowledge base around OpenMQTTGateway. OpenMQTTGateway now reads Xiaomi Mijia Temperature and Humidity sensor

In the path of integrating BLE devices to OpenMQTTGateway I have found the Xiaomi Mi Jia Humidity and temperature sensor to be a good candidate. This little indoor sensor is able to measure temperature and humidity and to transmit these data by bluetooth low energy to your smartphone. As we already integrated another BLE device ( Mi Flora)  why not extending the integration scope of OpenMQTTGateway to this one. I ordered one to see if I was able to extract data from it. After a few weeks, I received it, a first test with nRF connect application showed me that this device diffuses data in a quite similar way compared to Mi Flora (using BLE service data exposition). From this point I had to determine the differences between the data sent from mi flora and the data sent from mi jia hum & temp sensor. The reverse engineering was similar to the one done with Mi Flora and with some offset implementation in the program I was able to read easily the humidity and temper...

Adding infrared emitter to SONOFF RF BRIDGE

With the add of   SONOFF RF Bridge   to the OpenMQTTGateway compatibility list we were able to send and receive 433mhz by MQTT.  The interesting thing with OpenMQTTGateway is the ability to have on one board several gateways (RF, IR, BLE and more to come ;-).  The last versions of SONOFF RF BRIDGE as two IO free pins , why not using these pins to add a new gateway to this little cheap device and control more devices. If we follow the interest of the different gateways you are more interested on RF and after comes IR infrared. My choice came in this case to add an infrared emitter to the RF Bridge, with this gateway we are adding the capacity of controlling TV, DVD, hifi... On the hardware side, I followed the same schematic for IR setup with ESP8266  with just a little add a protection resistor of 1K for the IR led.
